A base model is next-token prediction over most of written civilization. Nobody designed what it knows or how it thinks about it. It grew. The blob is the honest picture: vast, capable, and shaped like nothing a person would draw on purpose.

The meme is not doom and it is not a sales pitch. It is a reminder that the friendly interface and the thing being interfaced with are not the same object, and only one of them fits on a sticker.
